Do I need prior Pilates or anatomy experience to enrol? +
No prior experience is required. Our course takes you from beginner through to qualified instructor. All anatomy and physiology relevant to Pilates is covered in depth throughout the course.
How long does it take to become a certified Pilates instructor? +
It typically takes 3 to 9 months to become fully certified, depending on how quickly you complete your logbook hours and exams. You have 12 months access to all course content from the date of enrolment.
Do I need a Certificate IV or Diploma to become a Pilates instructor? +
No. You are not required to complete a Certificate IV or Diploma in Pilates to teach. The APPI Pilates Instructor Certification is internationally recognised and equips you with all the skills, knowledge and confidence required to gain employment as a Pilates instructor.
Is this qualification recognised in Australia? +
Yes. The APPI certification is recognised by ESSA, AUSactive and Physical Activity Australia, and is accepted by studios and employers across Australia and in 24+ countries internationally.
What does my certification allow me to do? +
Once certified, you can gain professional insurance and begin teaching Pilates in studios, clinics and fitness centres, or start your own Pilates business. Your APPI qualification is recognised in 24+ countries, giving you the freedom to teach anywhere in the world.
How much can I earn as a Pilates instructor? +
In Australia, Pilates instructors can make anywhere from $35–$100+ depending on your place of employment and contract type. If you decide to set up your own Pilates business, your earning potential increases significantly.
What equipment do I need? +
For matwork you will need a Pilates mat. For reformer modules, access to a reformer is required for your practical assessments. Many students access a reformer through a local studio.
What support is available while I study? +
Your course includes 3 × 1:1 online mentor sessions with an expert Pilates educator. Our team is also available via email, and you can book a call with a course expert at any stage of your studies.
