Do I need prior experience to enrol in an online Pilates instructor course? +
Not at all. Our online Pilates instructor course is designed for people starting from scratch. You'll cover everything from foundational anatomy and physiology through to advanced teaching technique, so you arrive at your certification fully prepared and 100% industry ready regardless of your background.
How long does it take to become a certified Pilates instructor online? +
Most students complete their APPI Pilates instructor certification in 3 to 9 months, depending on how quickly you work through your logbook hours. You have 12 months of access to all content from enrolment, so you can move at a pace that suits you.
Do I need a Certificate IV to become a Pilates instructor? +
No. The APPI Pilates Instructor Certification is a standalone, internationally recognised qualification. You do not need a Certificate IV to teach at studios and gyms in Australia or New Zealand. Your APPI certification is all you need to obtain professional insurance and begin teaching.
Is an online Pilates certification recognised by studios and employers? +
Yes. The APPI certification is accredited by Exercise New Zealand and Physical Activity Australia, and is highly sought after by studios and wellness centres across Australia, New Zealand and internationally. It is recognised in 24+ countries worldwide, and the qualification is identical whether you study online or in person.
How does the online Pilates course work? +
You study entirely at your own pace using pre-recorded expert modules, digital manuals and a structured logbook. There are no fixed start dates and no live sessions required. Three 1:1 mentor sessions are built into the course to provide guidance and keep you on track, and our team is available via email throughout your studies.
How much can I earn as a Pilates instructor? +
Pilates instructors typically earn $45-$120+ per hour depending on the studio, location, employment type, and client base. Building your own Pilates business as a self-employed instructor can significantly increase your earning potential over time.
What support is available while I study online? +
Three dedicated 1:1 mentor sessions with a qualified Pilates educator are built into every course. Beyond that, our team is available via email throughout your studies, and you can book a chat with a course expert at any point.
Can I teach reformer Pilates with an online certification? +
Yes. The APPI Pilates Instructor Certification includes the full reformer repertoire: setup, safety, programming and progressions across beginner to advanced levels. Reformer is currently the dominant format in the boutique studio market, and APPI graduates go straight into reformer teaching roles after qualifying.
Can I complete the course while working full-time? +
Yes. The 100% online option has no fixed start dates and no live sessions. Study entirely at your own pace from anywhere, fitting it around work, family and everything else. Most students complete in 3 to 9 months.
