Cat Arm Press from APPI Pilates Equipment Level 2
This video demonstrates the cat arm press on the split pedal chair which is part of APPI Pilates Equipment Level 2 course for Scapulo Thoracic Stabilisation.
This exercise is commonly commenced in 4-point kneeling position which not only targets the endurance of the deep neck flexors and scapular muscles, it also requires the client to maintain a position of 90 degrees hip flexion which can be useful for sitting retraining.
In this video, we demonstrate a progression where the client uses a plank to significantly increase the work through scapular and neck and introduces the core which makes it a useful late-stage rehabilitation exercise in addition to one that is useful for sports people.
