Single Leg Press on the Chair with Variations from APPI Equipment Pilates
In this video we demonstrate single leg press on the chair with variations which is part of APPI Pilates Equipment 1 course for Lumbopelvic Pain.
This series provides a great way to challenge standing posture and is often taught as the “missing link” between non-weightbearing and functional standing exercises. You will see that once the client has a good strong standing position the use of the weights helps to improve endurance and provides distraction from the effort of maintaining posture. The addition of the calf raise produces the triple extension contraction we see in running.
Runners and walkers, and anyone who needs to stand will benefit from this exercise.
APPI Equipment Level 1 - Lumbo Pelvic Stabilisation
APPI’s Equipment Level 1 introduces participants to Clinical Pilates teaching on the large equipment with a focus on lumbopelvic stability. It is also the entry point for those wishing to complete the APPI Clinical Pilates Equipment Certification Series and is a sound introduction to the large Pilates equipment, covering a range of beginner movements.
Beginner level repertoire is taught on the reformer, cadillac, split pedal chair and barrels addressing the lumbopelvic region and lower limb. On this course you will start to understand the ways movements can be adapted to different equipment, and why you would choose one over the other. Experience the movements for yourself and explore how equipment Pilates can be either a regression or progression from matwork exercises.
