Completing the APPI Pilates for Endometriosis online self-paced course will provide you with specialised knowledge, enabling you to tailor exercises for endometriosis clients. This course will enhance your understanding of pain management, core strengthening, and holistic health. Equipping you with the skills to provide safe, effective and comprehensive, targeted care for endometriosis symptoms.

 

This one day online course will cover: 

  • Signs, symptoms, and presentation of endometriosis
  • Pathophysiological process of endometriosis
  • Impact of endometriosis on movement and function
  • Outline of current recommendations for endometriosis medical management
  • Outline the therapeutic management of endometriosis
  • Pilates rehabilitation and management of chronic pelvic pain
  • Pilates exercises aimed to address the impact of pain on the core cylinder
  • Pilates to retrain the impact of chronic pelvic pain and endometriosis on function
  • Practical tools to map the needs of your clients and approach their management in relation to their presentation

 

Course inclusions: 1 day online course and downloadable course manual 

Equipment: We recommend having a Pilates mat, head cushion, theraband &/or weighted balls/hand weights, a spikey massage ball and a soft Pilates ball

Eligability: To be eligible to enrol into this course you must have completed APPI Matwork Level 1, APPI Pilates Instructor Certification, or a 2 day matwork Pilates course from a recognised Pilates provider.

Course duration: 6 - 8 hours to complete 

CPD hours:  You will receive a certificate of attendance of the course stating 8 hours CPD which can be used towards your annual requirements  

Once enrolled you have 12 months access to this online course.

Emily Elgar 

 

Emily Elgar is a pelvic health physiotherapist based in Sheffield, UK. She has worked in both NHS and private sectors across MDT teams in multiple settings. Emily’s post grad training includes advanced pelvic floor assessment and treatment including myofascial release. Coupled with her qualification as a professional life coach places Emily’s experience with chronic pelvic pain expertly for the multi modal approach required to treat and manage conditions such as endometriosis. Her background in sports science combined with her passion for pelvic health has led her to work with women from the avid amateur, to pro and semi-pro athletes throughout their pregnancy, postnatal recovery, and addressing conditions including prolapse or incontinence.

After completing the course you'll gain knowledge covering: 

  • Understand the pathophysiological impact of endometriosis including pain physiology
  • Recognise the signs and symptoms, with ability to adapt a rehabilitation program accordingly
  • Deepen your understanding and assessment skills of the pelvic floor, diaphragm, and trunk in relation to chronic pelvic pain
  • Learn to assess and map the functional impact of pain on your client
  • Understand the fluctuations of and adapt to the different impacts of endometriosis
  • Help endometriosis clients to equip themselves with the tools to manage and enhance their function
