The APPI Ante and Post Natal Matwork Pilates course provides a comprehensive understanding of how to safely and effectively adapt Pilates exercises for clients during pregnancy and the postnatal period. Designed as an online, self-paced program, this course allows instructors to build confidence and competence in supporting women through these transformative stages of life while maintaining the integrity and benefits of Pilates practice.
Throughout the course, participants will explore the key physiological and musculoskeletal changes that occur during pregnancy and following childbirth. The lectures address the latest guidelines and recommendations for exercise during these periods, providing a strong foundation for safe program design. Participants will gain an understanding of the common musculoskeletal conditions experienced by women during the ante and postnatal phases, including pelvic girdle pain, lower back discomfort and abdominal separation, and how to appropriately modify Pilates exercises to accommodate these needs.
The course places a strong emphasis on practical application, covering a wide range of matwork Pilates exercises suitable for this population. Participants will learn how to adapt movements ensuring safety while promoting strength, stability and mobility. Small Pilates props are also incorporated throughout the course, offering creative ways to enhance support, challenge and engagement in both group and 1:1 settings.
By the end of the course, participants will have the knowledge and practical tools to confidently deliver safe, effective and empowering Pilates sessions to ante and postnatal clients. This training not only deepens professional expertise but also enables instructors to make a meaningful impact on women’s health and wellbeing during and after pregnancy.
