This online course introduces concepts relating to the treatment of the dancing athlete, focusing on the hips, feet, and ankles. The physical demands of professional dancing require specialised physiotherapy which takes into account injury prevention and management strategies applied to other professional sports. This course addresses issues such as the athlete triad, the athlete lifespan, and common dance injuries, as well as covering practical assessment and rehabilitation techniques.

Equipment: No equipment is required for this course 

Course duration: 6-8hrs to complete 

CPD hours:  You will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the course stating 8hrs CPD which can be used towards your annual requirements.  

Once enrolled you have 12-months access to this online course.

Module 1 - Introduction with glossary and requirements of dance

Module 2 - Injury epidemiology

Module 3 - The hip

Module 4 - The foot and ankle

Module 5 - Spine and jumping

Rachele Quested is a Doctor in Brisbane, Queensland, having previously become an APA Sports Titled Physiotherapist and a Pilates teacher.  She has taught on the Sports Physiotherapy program at UQ and presented at many Sports and Orthopaedic Conferences.

 

Rachele has worked extensively with athletes from a wide variety of sports during her career, which has included 5 years at the Royal Ballet Upper School in Covent Garden, work with the Queensland Ballet, touring with England Netball, Swimming and Triathlon as well as working in Premiership Rugby. Her interests have been screening and injury prevention as well as rehabilitation.

 

Rachele has written articles and courses for PhysioFirst in the UK, a variety of Journals and presented widely at conferences on topics such as Athlete Screening, Hip and Foot conditions and the Dancing Athlete.
