The APPI Clinical Pilates Reformer Certification is a self-paced online course, designed for allied-health professionals, that will introduce you to ninety five exercises, comprising both original and APPI evolved Pilates movements, that progress from beginner, intermediate and advanced as you move through the course.

This APPI Clinical Pilates Reformer Certification - Online will introduce you to ninety five exercises, comprising both original and APPI evolved Pilates movements, that progress from beginner, intermediate and advanced as you move through the course. 

 

The theoretical workshops include developing and refining your visual, tactile and audio cueing, home exercise program planning, one to one program planning as well as group reformer teaching. You will graduate this course with the teaching skills and confidence you need to deliver comprehensive and well articulated classes and sessions. 

 

You will be taken on an in depth dive into exercise analysis. We provide watch points to ensure you can assess whether your client or class participants are performing movements safely and effectively. We pay particular attention to movement selection, muscle recruitment and patterning, alignment, modification, feedback and progression throughout the tutorials. 

 

Upon completion of your APPI Clinical Pilates Reformer Certification you will sit a theory and practical exam to gain your full qualification. 

To become a fully certified APPI Clinical Pilates Reformer Instructor, you must:

  • Complete Reformer Levels 1 - 3
  • Complete your certification logbook
  • Pass your practical and theory certification exams 

Certification Logbook

Your completed Pilates certification logbook is uploaded to the online portal prior to submitting your Pilates practical exam. Hours are:

  • 10 hours of observation 
  • 50 hours of practice teaching 
  • 75 hours of self-practice 

Theory Exam 

An online multiple-choice exam that covers but is not limited to the following topics:

  • History of Pilates
  • History of APPI
  • Classification of APPI exercises
  • Name of APPI exercises
  • The relevant choice of an exercise for a given goal 

Practical Pilates Exam

Design a 50 minute 1:1 Pilates session using APPI Reformer Pilates exercises. You will be marked on:

  • Introduction – the meet and greet procedure and introduction to the reformer
  • Session planning – does the session flow, is there an appropriate selection of exercises 
  • The teaching of the Pilates exercises – introducing the reasons behind the exercise to the client
  • Cueing – verbal, tactile, visual imagery
  • Energy and motivation of the voice
  • Safety
  • Home advice and programming

 

A 70% pass rate is required in both the theory and practical examinations.

 

We recommend finalising your APPI Reformer Pilates Certification exams within 3-6 months following course completion. 

 

On completion of the above, you will enter an international community of over 50,000 certified APPI Pilates teachers. You will also have access to the APPI Pilates logo to promote yourself as a certified instructor.

To be eligible to enrol into this course you must have completed either APPI Matwork Level 1APPI Matwork Certification, or a formal two day matwork Pilates course from a recognised Pilates provider. 

 

The APPI Clinical Pilates Reformer Certification - Online is designed for physiotherapists, osteopaths, exercise physiologists, doctors, sports scientists, chiropractors, rehabilitation therapists, occupational therapists, degree qualified myotherapists and students undertaking an allied health degree.

Do I need a background in allied health to enrol in the APPI Clinical Pilates Reformer Certification course?

Yes! To qualify to enrol into the APPI Clinical Pilates Reformer Certification you are required to hold an allied health degree, or an allied health student.

Upon successful completion of the course and final assessments, you will receive the APPI Clinical Pilates Reformer Certification – an internationally recognised certification. This certification allows you to teach 1:1 or clinical group reformer Pilates classes.
