Pilates for hypermobility is a pathology specific one day course that is a vital component of the ‘Pilates toolkit' that all Pilates teachers should equip themselves with. This one day course has been designed by APPI Co-Founder Glenn Withers and is one of the only Pilates courses in the industry to evaluate the use of Pilates in the hypermobile population exclusively.
In this online course we will demonstrate a hypermobile specific class (including class plan as part of the course materials), investigate the latest evidence on using Pilates with hypermobility including the recent evidence that suggests we should be working clients into the hypermobile range, and a range of exercises for the entire body.
We will challenge the ‘notion’ that a Pilates program for hypermobility is completed by lying on the mat doing your usual Pilates exercises and teach you a 5 phased program that will ensure the spine is positioned in its ‘best possible’ position before we do any strengthening work. The strengthening phase is delivered in a way unique to the curvature of the scoliotic spine and everything is tailored to the curve. This truly is a course that every teacher should be aware of and the content delivered here will change the way you use Pilates for Hypermobility.
This course is open to all.
