APPI Pilates for Dancers is an introductory online course which explores the requirements of the dancer and the demands of the regime to provide a broad understanding of Pilates-based dance rehabilitation.
During this course, you will learn a series of essential movements on the mat and Pilates machines which provide the basis for prevention and rehabilitation programmes for healthier dancers.
Pilates for Dancers online course looks at the specific needs of the dancer, with the focus on ballet, in relation to common injuries, technique flaws, determining pointe shoe readiness, and how to choose or modify the Pilates exercises to be more specific to the dancer population. The course takes an in-depth look at the lumbopelvic region, the hip, foot and ankle complex. The course considers the necessity of mobilization, along with the importance of proprioception and balance re-education.
There are no set pre-requisites for this course. However, to gain the most the course, we reccommend you complete either the APPI Pilates Matwork Level 1 course, or a 2 day Pilates Matwork training course with another provider or a movement training course (Ballet, Dance).
